To answer your restaurant or cafe reviews without losing floor time, sort them into four types (simple praise, praise with a note, an ordinary complaint, an incident), write each a short reply that mentions what the guest said, and pass any health incident to management at once. Your replies are your second profile: someone choosing where to eat reads the review and your answer together.

In a restaurant or cafe, reviews arrive at your busiest times: Thursday night, after Friday prayers, and in seasons. For the general steps and samples read [replying to Google Maps reviews](https://smtak.com/en/blog/replying-to-google-maps-comments-saudi-dialect.md), and for a wider library [ready-made reply templates](https://smtak.com/en/tools/review-reply-templates.md).

## What restaurant guests usually write

- Taste and quality: a dish they loved or that let them down.
- Waiting: in the dining room, at pickup or on delivery.
- Service: the welcome, how staff treated them, and order accuracy.
- The place: cleanliness, seating and parking.
- Price against portion.

Knowing these types helps you reply to each, instead of one repeated line that every reader notices.

## Sort reviews before you reply

1. Four and five stars with no note: a short thank-you that mentions what the guest liked.
2. Praise with a "but": thank them for what they liked, then say what you will do about the note.
3. One to three stars: do not reply while annoyed. Check what happened at the branch, then apologise for the experience itself and offer a contact channel. Google advises checking your records of the visit before replying.
4. A review mentioning food poisoning, a serious hygiene failure or an injury: this is not an ordinary review. Tell the branch manager at once, check the order and the date, and publish no reply before that.

## Ready replies by type of complaint

These are samples we wrote for you to adapt, not replies to real guests. Change the names and details to what actually happened.

### Praise

> Welcome, Abu Fahad, we are glad you enjoyed the burger. We look forward to seeing you again.

> Thank you, Noura, for your words about the specialty coffee; your thanks reached the barista. We look forward to seeing you.

### Waiting

> Thank you for your note about pickup time on Friday. Your words reached the branch manager, and we apologise for the wait.

### Cold food or a wrong order

> We are sorry, [name], that your order arrived cold, and that is not the level we want. Please contact us on [number] with your order number so we can review it with you.

### Takeaway and delivery

If the delay came from a delivery app, do not blame it in public. Apologise for the experience and move the conversation to a private channel where you can get the order number.

> We are sorry your order arrived late. We are reviewing what happened with the delivery team, and please contact us on [number] with your order number.

### Price and portion

> We value your note about the portion. It has reached the branch manager, and we would be glad to hear more from you on [number].

### A general complaint

> We are sorry about your experience, and it is not the level we want for our guests. Please contact customer service so we can understand what happened.

Write in the reply only what you actually did. A promise that is not kept shows up in the next review.

## What to show on a restaurant or cafe profile

Google names these items on its own pages; they are not features added by a third party:

- The precise category: Google says categories affect your local ranking, and that restaurants can add links to menus, reservations and online ordering, and add menu items directly.
- Special hours for Ramadan and Eid, and attributes such as outdoor seating, Wi-Fi and parking.
- Photos of food and drink, the interior and the exterior: Google recommends at least three of each type, real and well lit.

The factors in detail are in [how restaurants and cafes rank on Google Maps](https://smtak.com/en/blog/google-maps-ranking-factors-saudi-restaurants.md).

For the guest who asks about dishes before visiting, put a [digital QR menu](https://smtak.com/en/blog/digital-menu-qr-for-restaurants.md) on your profile and your tables and keep its prices right, since an outdated price is a common cause of a low review.

## A recurring complaint matters more than one review

If waiting is mentioned in several reviews this month, the problem is operations, not the reply. Collect notes weekly by topic and branch and discuss them with the branch manager: staffing at peak, the layout of the pickup area, or an item that keeps coming up.

## Ask every guest

Google suggests printing a QR code and displaying it in your shop or including it in receipts. Put the code on the table and on the takeaway bag, and create it in the [Google review link and QR tool](https://smtak.com/en/tools/google-review-link.md). But the waiter or cashier does not ask the guest to review while they are on the premises, there is no discount for a review, no request for a number of stars, and the code is not shown only to happy guests; Google's policies prohibit all of that.

## Common mistakes

- Answering a complaint at the busiest hour with a defensive reply.
- Blaming the delivery app in public.
- Denying a health incident before checking.
- Identical replies under ten reviews.

## How SMTAK shortens this work

SMTAK pulls your branches' reviews automatically and writes each a draft reply in your restaurant's tone that mentions a detail from what the guest said. You approve the reply with a tap, or switch on automatic replies for four- and five-star reviews with your consent, while low and critical reviews wait for you. The report shows each branch's average, reply rate and recurring topics, such as speed and waiting, food, and cleanliness.

## Frequently asked questions

### Should I reply to a five-star review with no text?

That is up to you. Google says there is no need to thank everyone who wrote a review, but one line shows you are following. If you reply, keep it short and written for that person.

### Can I delete a negative review of my restaurant?

A business owner cannot delete a review. You can report it if it breaks Google's policies; otherwise a professional reply is what the reader sees.

### What if a review mentions food poisoning?

Treat it as an incident: tell management, check the order and the date, and contact the writer. In the public reply apologise and invite direct contact, and neither deny nor confirm before checking.

### Should I reply to a complaint caused by the delivery app?

Yes, with an apology for the experience and an invitation to contact you with the order number, without blaming the app in public.

### May a waiter ask a guest to write a review?

Not while they are on the premises. Google's policy prohibits asking for a review, or pressing for one, while the customer is in the place. Displaying a QR code on the table is fine.
